Gochu Jang Fried Cauliflower Bites
Ingredients
- 1 & 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large head cauliflower, chopped into florets
- 3 eggs
Sesame seeds, to garnish
Chopped green onion, to garnish
Honey Gochu Jang Sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, grated or minced
Directions
-
In a deep skillet, add enough oil to cover about 1 ½ inches deep. Heat over medium heat until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Meanwhile, whisk together the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and salt in a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, whisk the eggs.
-
Dip a piece of cauliflower in the egg, coating then letting the excess drip off, then use your other hand to dip in the breadcrumb mixture, coating the cauliflower fully. Set aside and repeat with the remaining cauliflower.
-
Carefully place 3-5 pieces of cauliflower in the hot oil, rotating every 3-4 minutes or until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside on a wire rack over paper towels, then repeat with the remaining cauliflower.
-
While the cauliflower is frying, add all ingredients for the sauce to a small saucepan or skillet. Simmer over medium low heat, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
-
Toss the cauliflower with honey gochu jang mixture. Serve hot topped with sesame seeds and green onion and enjoy!
